More than 40,000 migrant workers expected to be repatriated

The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau has said that more than 40,000 migrant workers are expected to arrive in the island.

Nearly 20,000 people have already arrived in the country, its Deputy General Manager Mangala Randeniya said.

At least 67 Sri Lankan migrant workers stranded overseas have died due to COVID 19, he added.

Steps will be taken to provide the required facilities to those leaving the island for overseas employment, he stressed.
